Viewed at Kinopalatsi 3, Helsinki, 19 March 2005. I loved Monster's Ball by Marc Forster and Johnny Depp and Kate Winslet are favourite actors of mine now joining forces in a Miramax prestige production, a British heritage film with a story with affinities with Shadowlands. It's the true story of James Barrie (1860-1937) and the five boys he adopted after they lost their parents and who were the inspiration for Peter Pan. The wonderful Kate Winslet plays the mother in whom James finds his soulmate too late. Nice portrait by Dustin Hoffman as Charles Frohman (1860-1915), one of the famous trio of theatrical Frohman producer brothers. Julie Christie gets to play the witch of the story. A quality film, but with talent like this, the film could be even better. ***
